Avionics and cockpit update

Quick update. Busy working on a lot of small things. We have a cockpit update coming to update MPDs, internal and external night lighting. MPDs talking to the TStores class and working towards having a number of cockpit functions up and ready for the start-up. Dave added the CP/G throttle panel too (which removes the power switch and engine startup).

Experiencing a problem with fps slowdown over time again. Mostly down to repeatedly running combat-helo, stop, edit, re-run. FPS drops to single figures. I'm not seeing main memory leaks and it doesn't effect other games. I'm not clear what is happening, a reboot fixes it.

I wanted to see what the TEDAC would look like later so I was cheeky and borrowed a still from another game as temp background.

  1. Photorealistic cockpit,i hope FLIR/DDTV no cause slowdown Fps,in DCS Shkval suck, when on fps down 20-30 %,and constant hdd work :(

  2. It's hard not to have FPS slowdown when you render another camera, all you can do is mitigate it. It's one of those things that bother me.

The TEDEC is going to be the biggest single FPS hit we have left to add. My earlier tests suggest 20% is on the money. We can customise what things to render in the TADS view to adjust performance and update the TADS at half frame rates, or full frame rate.

Just have to wait and see. The new 3D engine's Quadtree system we we havn't migrated to yet should make a big difference here. We'll have to see.

There will be a full screen TEDAC view you can operate with the pilot at the controls, with no cockpit rendering it will be much faster.

  3. Slow fps is no problem;) but in DCS when shkval on i have horrible, constant reading HDD its unacceptable for me (4 gb ram useless),i hope in combat helo TEDAC uses ram memory, no frequently hdd ;)

  4. That looks really amazing. WOW! I didnt understand that thing about adding throttle panel, so removing power switch and engine start up. So how the start up procedure will be done? :-o

  5. The APU and ignition controls have been removed from only the CP/G's (co-pilot gunner's) cockpit. As in the real Apache, only the pilot can start the engines.

    Cheers

  8. Co-op play in same chopper, yes.

There will be more than one copy of the game so you don't have to fight over it :)
